From a downtown Hamilton tiny storefront to our latest 75,000 square foot store, Fortinos approach to business has not changed. Italian immigrant John Fortino opened his first store in 1961 in downtown Hamilton, with the promise of good, fresh food, competitive prices, a clean & organized environment, and excellent service. Supported by hard working family and staff, plus loyal customers and communities, the business prospered.
Today the Loblaw‐owned Fortinos banner has 24 stores across the GTA reflecting leading edge development in supermarket innovation while remaining true to our founder’s philosophy. Floral departments with professional designers, full service pharmacies, the latest in health & wellness products and Certified Holistic Nutritionists on staff reflect our contemporary, customer‐focused approach. Sit down cafes with free wifi, store roasted coffee beans sourced from estate and fair trade origins, and a diverse selection of hot and cold snacks & meals cater to hungry shoppers.
On the fresh food front, Fortinos’ unique Pane Fresco brand takes ready‐to‐eat food to entirely new heights. Built on the simple philosophy of ‘eating well made easy’, Pane Fresco represents a new generation of foods to go, prepared with our own recipes inspired by traditional and contemporary Italian foods, all delivering big flavours you can really taste! Pane Fresco, Italian for ‘fresh bread’, offers over 30 varieties of hand‐shaped artisanal breads, giant Roman‐style pizzas, soup and hot sandwiches. Our signature, fresh carved prime rib sandwich, is known as the best sandwich in town!
