WILLY NELSON, SHANIA TWAIN
He attended school at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine from 1937 to 1945, where he developed his musical talent. His father died when he was 10, his mother five years later.
On November 14, 1961, Charles was arrested on a narcotics charge in an Indiana hotel room, where he waited to perform. The detectives seized heroin, marijuana and other items. Charles, then 31, stated that he had been a drug addict since the age of 16.
While the case was dismissed because of the manner in which the evidence was obtained, Charles's situation did not improve until a few years later.
Charles referred to Willie Nelson as "my chess partner"
